Specification and Morphogenesis Wnt Together in the Eye Field.

Flor and Kara talk

For our Developmental Neurobiology Seminar this week, we discussed regional patterning within the forebrain, focusing on the role of Wnt signaling in eye field and diencephalon specification. We read and talked about a 2005 Neuron paper, entitled “Early Stages of Zebrafish Eye Formation Require the Coordinated Activity of Wnt11, Fz5, and the Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway. The first author of the paper, Florencia Cavodeassi, spoke with Kara a few days ago. You can watch the most relevant excerpts from their conversation here.
