Interested in working full-time to further the mission of the Cerveny Lab? If not you, maybe a colleague, friend, or family member is? Please see the post below.
Reed College is seeking applicants for a full time Research Assistant/Technician to participate in the daily running of a newly established zebrafish lab. Duties include working closely with the principal investigator to organize the lab and order supplies; feeding and breeding zebrafish to maintain genetic lines; genotyping and screening transgenic lines; monitoring water quality and fish health; and performing preventative maintenance on a constant-flow aquatic system. Good communication skills and keen attention to detail are required. The successful applicant will help train and supervise undergraduate fish care assistants, and will also participate directly in research projects aimed at understanding how specific extrinsic signals impinge on proliferation and differentiation of neuronal stem cells in the context of zebrafish eye development. Further information about the lab and its research projects can be found here.
Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field. Practical experience in feeding and maintenance of zebrafish or other aquatic species is highly preferred as is familiarity with genetics and molecular biology.
